I wanted to share something awesome today. This morning, my pastor spoke about Jesus bringing back to life Lazarus. It was in a way I never heard before. How of course the grave, and death, satan had power of at the time. And of course, Jesus was showing his power over death. But, Lazarus was bound up, as per the ritual when someone died. When we are lost, we are bound in sin, and satan has power of us. When Jesus commanded the stone be rolled away, and for Lazarus to come forth, it is like when Christ calls us to be saved. He calls to us. He opens the door for us to walk through, to seek and get salvation. When Lazarus walked through the door, he was still bound, as sin bind us until we answer the call of Jesus. But when Jesus commanded to unbind him, it is as we are unbound by sin when we answer the call.
I was thinking about this, and during the evening service, a young man came to the alter, seeking Christ with his heart. I prayed to the Heavens will all I had. And a thought came into my mind.
He was lost, in the tomb, bound by sin and in Satan’s grasp. I prayed as tears ran down my face, feeling the strength as the church gathered around him praying also. I saw the tomb door trying to open.
Also, I learned today, tombs were sometimes made at an angle, so the stone would roll into place. So to open it, you would have push up hill.
So I prayed, and I saw the strength of the church pushing uphill against the large stone to open the way for this young man. It is his choice, but the church and prayer can help clear the way. I saw using all the strength we had in praying to push and hold the stone away, holding a clear path for Christ to come onto this man. I closed my eyes, feeling my inside pushing towards this large stone, as if I was actually holding and moving a rock. It was the realest thing. I could about feel the pressure from the push back, satan trying to get back in to this young man. Fighting against the strength of prayer.
I prayed, pushing back satan. Then, through closed eyes, I could see God’s light.
You know, if you close your eyes tight, and out your hands over your eyes, your vision is extra dark. You shut your eyes normal and it is regular dark. If that makes sense. But suddenly, as my eyes were closed, it was as if a light was shining. Kinda like, if you gently shut your eyes outside a sunny day, and you can still see the light some even when your eyes are shut, its not as dark. So I noticed, and seen, the light come inside the church. I opened my eyes, and I felt the presence of the Lord, and my spirit shouted, satan can’t enter in the presence of God’s light. The light in my heart got brighter and brighter, as I still envisioned holding the stone. As the boy prayed and the church around him, I prayed to keep holding the stone, no matter how long it took, I would keep hold. I prayed God would show him the light, like he once showed me. A light so bright, that even when you are a night owl like me, you want to bask in it. You want the light to cover you entirely. That’s God’s love.
I prayed God would strengthen the young man, strengthen those around him and together we could protect him through prayer, the most powerful thing in the world, for just a moment. As Jesus commanded to move the stone, we held the stone open as he called this young man, unbinding him and covering him with the Holy Spirit, freeing him death. Through death, that this young man may have eternal light.
I believe that young man got saved tonight. Praise God in the highest. I pray we can rest in comfort, for just a moment, and just rest in this peace, a gift that God has given us to be a part of.
I thank him for this wonderful day, and all the people of the church and the pastor.
Let prayer be strong in your life, to help move stones, so that people can can hear Christ’s voice, and escape an eternal hell.
